FOXBORO, Mass. (AP) -- Boston's Kristine Lilly missed a penalty
kick in the 32nd minute as the Breakers and Washington Freedom tied
0-0 on Saturday in WUSA.
The Breakers (2-3-3), playing their first game at CMGI Field,
controlled the first half and outshot Washington 10-2.
But they blew their best opportunity when Lilly fired over the
crossbar on her penalty shot. The Breakers were awarded the penalty
kick after Skylar Little tripped Dagny Mellgren in the box.
The Freedom (2-4-2), who have scored eight goals in eight games
this season, were shut out for the second consecutive game.
Washington had a goal disallowed in the 53rd minute when Abby
Wambach was ruled offside after slipping a roller past goalkeeper
Karina LeBlanc.
Boston's Maren Meinert appeared to have Washington goalkeeper
Siri Mullinix beat in the 74th minute, but Mullinix got a hand on
the ball and deflected it inches wide.
